Each campus’ libraries are available to all University faculty through personal visits and interlibrary loan services and upon presentation of a University identification card. Courier service is available between the four campuses for interlibrary borrowing. Policies on borrowing library materials are as liberal as possible_generally, faculty may borrow books for an entire semester, subject to recall if the book is requested by another scholar. Faculty are urged, however, to return books not being used. In addition, all CU faculty have borrowing privileges to the collections of many of the state’s other academic libraries through personal visits and interlibrary loan. The libraries’ interlibrary loan agreements also provide faculty with access to the collections of most of the libraries in the United States and other countries.

The libraries invite faculty members to participate actively in the acquisition programs. Academic departments usually appoint faculty members to coordinate requests from departmental colleagues and work with librarians directly involved in the acquisition of library materials. The libraries also administer reserve book collections to support classroom teaching needs. Faculty members are strongly urged to submit reserve lists to library staff well in advance of classroom needs.
